Fun in the Fall
This fall has been incredibly special. Our sweet girl, Kaia is the perfect addition to our family. She has forced us to slow down, cuddle, and love on each other in a time that might otherwise be lost in the mundane tasks that are not important at all. Kaia (Warrior Princess) has let us know who is boss in this family, although Colton would easily claim the co-title.
Colton has eased into brotherhood so naturally. Not once has he asked when we are sending Kaia back to the hospital. He loves to put stuffies up his shirt and “pop them out” with some adorable pretend pushes and grunts. He is kind and patient with our new baby, but mostly uses having a baby around as an excuse to watch more Daniel Tiger and Dinosaur Train. I frequently cave in as being a mom of 2 is definitely double the work.
When we aren’t feeding, napping, or snuggling, the Hester crew has done a lot of fun things this fall. Karen and Tom came to visit us in the beginning of September. We took them on a steam train ride in Georgetown and got a glimpse of the changing leaves. Colton was enamored by the train and still talked about his “first ride on a steam train” while playing with his toy train set. We left Kaia back in Longmont with Grammy and Pops.
In October, Taylor and Tucker came for a visit from Georgia. It was a blast having them in town and were treated to many meals cooked by Taylor. We spent a day in Rocky Mountain National Park and toured Fort Collins Old Town and a couple of breweries. We miss our “cuzzies” and hope they come for another visit soon.
Halloween is this week and it’s going to be a chilly one. Forecast is a high of 30 degrees on Halloween day, so the night is sure to be chilly. This Saturday was a gorgeous 70 degrees and we took the kids to the Longmont Halloween parade with their cousins Caroline, Sophia, and Cooper. After, all of the daddies (Mike, Justin, Nate) worked together to build Grammy/Pops’ new huge playset while the moms wrangled the kids. Fall is a beautiful time of the year and I’m grateful for my sweet family, beautiful Colorado, and the hot tub. 🙂
