Sugar Cookies with the Cousins
A sprinkle train charged through my kitchen yesterday and the cars were named Addie, Mae, and Colton.
The Fundalinski 3 came over yesterday for some cookie making extravaganza. The day started with Grandma and Pops coming over with pancakes and sausage for breakfast. The ladies started in on the recipes while Pops attempted to herd cats. There was some park time in the middle of the day thanks to the beautiful 50 degree winter weather. There were some feasts made of play food, toy car races, and lots of jumping on the trampoline all under the responsible eye of cousin, Addie.
After unsuccessful napping, Colton and Mae got to decorate Christmas cookies for the first time and based on their smiles and frosting-covered elbows, I think they had a good time. Ms. Addie was a great helper and helped herself to most of 5 bottles of sprinkles. Maybe we should have rationed those sprinkles a bit more….. Nevertheless, Katie and I had a great time laughing at our wild kiddos while baking up a storm. In the end, we have a few dozen cookies so beautiful that we would be too embarrassed not to keep for ourselves, plus some very presentable banana bread and reindeer cookies.
The holiday season has been especially fun this year. Colton often asks to drive around and look at Christmas lights. He points out “reindeer” and “Santa Clause” when we see pictures of them (or in person!). He loves to help decorate and re-decorate the Christmas tree. This is the first Christmas that we live near my family and I’ve loved spending so much time with my Mom and
Dad. This year, Mike isn’t busy re-modeling our house at every waking moment and we are making so many memories together as a family of 3. Last week, we took Colton to his first movie at the theater (The Grinch). Grandma Karen and Grandpa Tom are flying out for Christmas!
